HERNDON, Va. , May 1, 2014 — PLANET the national trade association for landscape industry professionals, announced that Jim McCutcheon, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, will be the president of the 2014/2015 board of directors. McCutcheon officially took the office on May 1.
“I am honored and humbled to serve as PLANET’s president. My membership and involvement in PLANET has been one of the key aspects of the success of HighGrove,” said McCutcheon. “We have a very good association that is doing remarkable work to help our industry.”
McCutcheon is the CEO of the award-winning HighGrove Partners in Austell, Ga., specializing in commercial landscape maintenance and design. With more than 25 years’ experience in all facets of landscape design, installation, maintenance, water management – McCutcheon is widely regarded by industry experts, and the local Atlanta marketplace, as a visionary leader and dynamic pioneer in the landscape industry. HighGrove Partners has been honored with awards from numerous industry associations and companies.
McCutcheon received his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and began his career with Post Properties as a landscape designer.
McCutcheon has been an active member of PLANET for years and has made an impact on the industry by serving on the board of directors as well as many committees, such as the chairman of the Crystal Ball and Student Career Days Subcommittees; earning the respected designation of PLANET Trailblazer; as well as most recently serving as the President of the PLANET Academic Excellence Foundation (PLANET AEF).
When asked about his plans for this upcoming year, he states “My goal for PLANET is the same I have for my own company every day – work hard, smart, and creatively to get from good to great! The Board and Leadership of PLANET have that same goal and we are building and executing a plan to make that happen.”
